About the role..
An exciting role exists for a self-motivated and passionate Staff Specialist, Rehabilitation to join our Royal Rehab team in Ryde.
You will work with the experienced Rehabilitation Team and Staff Specialists of the Spinal Injuries Unit. Responsibilities include providing in-patient and non-inpatient medical management, education and consultancy to people with spinal cord injury, their families and carers.
Key responsibilities include:
Managing inpatients with Spinal Cord Injury at Royal Rehab.
Undertaking outpatient clinics including discharged clients from Royal Rehab and new referrals to Spinal Cord Injury clinic.
Supervising Trainee Registrars on a rotational basis with other Staff Specialists.
Education of Registrars at SIU and in Royal Rehab.
Liaison with Royal North Shore SIU, Other referring Hospitals, Spinal Outreach Service, Spinal Specialist services in other hospitals and General Practitioners.
Provision of assessment services/management strategies to team, service providers, clients.
Communication with the COM/Staff Specialists and other team members and provision of input relating to the development of the team and the service.
Participate in an on-call roster as required.
Providing inpatient care for patients of other specialists when they are on leave as required.
Participate in research projects.
Participate in quality assurance projects.
About you..
We seek a self-motivated and friendly individual with:
Essential Criteria:
Medical Degree, eligible for medical registration in NSW.
Fellow of the Australasian Faculty of Rehabilitation Medicine (RACP).
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary team.
Ability to liaise with other health professionals in the community to develop shared care plans.
Clinical experience in the management of Spinal Cord Injury, associated impairments and disability.
The ability to assess and formulate rehabilitation objectives in conjunction with the rehabilitation teams.
Current Driver’s license.
Desirable Criteria:
Computer literacy.
Clinical experience in the management of other neurological conditions.
Experience in working in a specialised multi-disciplinary team.
Skills relevant to undertaking research in Spinal Cord Injury.
