We recognize the strength that diversity brings to our workplace. We are committed to building an inclusive culture that reflects the rich tapestry of the people we serve. We actively encourage applications from various community groups, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people, LGBTIQA+, individuals with disabilities, and those from culturally diverse backgrounds.

At Breakthru we are proud to be Great Place to Work Certified!!

About the role…

The position we have available is based in our Breakthru unit, in a café called Breaking Grounds which is open Monday-Friday from approximately 6.30am-4.30pm.

A popular little hub of activity, this wonderful place not only provides excellent coffee, scrumptious snacks and delicious lunches, it also plays a special role in the community -supporting people with disability to learn aspects of café operations.  This means demonstrating what a great team member looks like, and providing great experiences for someone learning the ropes of cafe work life. (People who are learning café operations with us, are supported by specialist team members so there is no direct responsibility for training outside of the normal support provided by any member of the team).

As a member of our team in this space, your role will include all the typical tasks and responsibilities of working in a busy community café such as serving customers with a smile, running food and assisting with food preparation. However as our Barista, your strengths will lie in the hot beverage arts! You are a whiz when it comes to making all types of delicious coffee - perhaps even knowing how to make a frothy heart or two!

About you…

This wonderful opportunity is available immediately. We are looking for people who are interested in working on a casual basis who have previous barista experience.

The hourly rate on this position is $32-$33 per hour + salary packaging.  (Salary packaging boosts your take home pay and is an extra benefit that is provided to you from being part of a non-profit disability services provider!).

This role would be bested suited to those with barista experience who have an interest, connection or passion for working in the disability space which may include students studying in health or human services looking to earn and learn -gaining experience in the disability space; people who have lived/living personal or family experience of disability who want to align their hospitality experience, or hospitality-experienced candidates looking for community connection that is big on purpose!

Whatever your situation, we are looking for people who are passionate about community connection, enjoy developing relationships with people, and genuinely get excited to see others achieve…oh and who can make an excellent coffee!

Being a part of Breakthru means an opportunity to support others and deliver amazing services to the community.

Why not see where a career that starts here can take you….
