About the role..
An exciting opportunity for a Clinical Nurse Specialist has arisen in the NSW Spinal Outreach Service of Royal Rehab. The successful applicant will have experience in coordinating care, and the delivery of nursing interventions for people with disability or chronic illness, preferably in the community setting.
You will be working within our specialist allied health, nursing, and medical team, providing assessment, intervention, education, and consultancy for people with spinal cord injury, and their families, carers and support networks. Periodic travel to rural areas of NSW with the team will be required.
Key responsibilities include:
Comprehensive holistic nursing assessment and intervention for clients of the NSW Spinal Outreach Service their families.
Providing case coordination for a caseload of clients with spinal cord injury in the community.
Working collaboratively in the NSW Spinal Outreach Service on the development and implementation of interdisciplinary programs to assist clients to maximise their independence and participation in the community.
Provision of education on complex spinal health issues to clients, families, and carers.
Providing support to Rural Spinal Cord Injury Coordinators on nursing related matters.
State-wide consultation and educational support to hospital and community service providers regarding the needs of clients with a spinal cord injury in NSW.
About you..
We seek a self-motivated and friendly individual with:
Essential Criteria:
Minimum of 5 years’ experience as an AHPRA Registered Nurse.
Post-registration experience and/or qualifications relevant to spinal cord injury, neurological conditions, rehabilitation nursing, community nursing or chronic illness.
Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication, interpersonal skills, and the ability to identify key messages, issues and concerns when communicating with others.
Demonstrated ability to accurately keep records including written client records and administrative records in accordance with policies and procedures.
Current C unrestricted driver’s license or equivalent.
Competency with computer use, specifically Microsoft products.
Ability to travel throughout rural NSW (approx. 3 times/year, for 3-4 nights duration on each occasion).
Desirable Criteria:
Experience in a community-based health care setting.
Experience with quality improvement initiatives or clinical research.
