About the role..
This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic Occupational Therapy Assistant to work in our Royal Rehab Private Hospital. You will be an integral member of the rehabilitation team and vital to the success of the private model of service delivery. Supervision may be direct or indirect according to the nature of the work delegated to the Occupational Therapy Assistant.
Key responsibilities include:
Supporting the Occupational Therapists and multidisciplinary team in the delivery of person-centred interventions, activities and programs to clients undergoing physical and cognitive rehabilitation, on an individual basis or within a group situation.
Work independently and with other team members in the provision of meaningful practice of activities to achieve the frequency and intensity of therapy for the clients, under the direction of an Occupational Therapist.
Motivating and assisting clients, using an enabling approach.
Observing, reporting and documenting changes in individual or group behaviours.
About you..
We seek a self-motivated and friendly individual with:
Essential Criteria:
Certificate IV Allied Health Assistant or equivalent health qualification.
Experience within a rehabilitation inpatient setting.
Experience running intervention groups.
Ability to work autonomously and under direct supervision.
Comprehensive and effective communication skills.
Excellent interpersonal skills and customer service.
Computer literacy.
Full NSW C Class Drivers licence.
Sound time management, team-work, flexibility and self-organisation skills.
Desirable Criteria:
Client centred rehabilitative approach.
Experience with or understanding of Occupational Therapy.
Experience working with adaptive equipment and/or wheelchairs.
Experience assisting clients with mobility and transfers using correct manual handling techniques.
Willingness to engage with advanced technology in the therapy setting.
