About the role

As our Senior Speech Therapist, you will be a key member of our multi-disciplinary Community services team known as Royal Rehab LifeWorks.

This newly created position offers a unique opportunity for a passionate individual to lead growth, deliver high-quality services, and provide supervision and peer support as part of a collaborative multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Work with a diverse caseload of clients aged 16 years and over, delivering tailored Speech Therapy services with a focus on individualized, person-centered, and strength-based approaches.
  • Lead, collaborate and build relationships with a range of stakeholders that support people to achieve their goals and improve their community participation and enhance LifeWorks and the Speech Therapy service.
  • Implement and review therapy needs, develop intervention plans and strategies with clients, family, carers, and their service providers.
  • Manage sensitive enquiries, specialist services, and complex customers within the speech therapy service.
  • Provide peer support and development opportunities including clinical supervision and learning and development needs.
  • Proactively work with the Allied Health Manager and other senior clinicians to support the Royal Rehab LifeWorks strategy.
  • Actively promote Royal Rehab LifeWorks service offerings, particularly the Speech Therapy service, by establishing and maintaining networks with community services and specialized agencies.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development, staying up-to-date with the latest research and treatment techniques.

About you

Essential Criteria: 

  • Registration with Speech Pathology Australia (SPA).
  • Tertiary level qualifications in Speech Therapy
  • Experience working with people with a disability who may have a range of complex and challenging support needs.
  • Demonstrated experience in the development and implementation of occupational therapy assessment and intervention strategies in a disability context.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience to provide support and supervision to other staff.
