About the role..
We are expanding and an opportunity exists for an experienced and motivated Recreational Therapist within our LifeWorks service. You will be predominantly working with people post-discharge with significant disability or with clients with long-term disability.
The recreational therapist will be providing assessments and interventions to clients with long-term disabilities in their homes, community locations and our BRAND-NEW onsite technology therapy centre. A significant part of your role will be to provide therapy while utilising innovative advanced technologies to facilitate achieving client goals.
The successful applicant will work with a multi-disciplinary team and within a client-focused and goal-centered framework.
Recreational Therapy intervention can occur:
- In the client’s own home
- In a range of Royal Rehab supported accommodation houses or facilities or other supported accommodation services
- Onsite at Royal Rehab, Ryde
- In a community location relevant to the client’s goals
- The position includes working in a therapy service with opportunities to grow & develop advanced technology and innovative Recreational Therapy programs to optimise the effectiveness of interventions & improve clients’ quality of life. This may include, but not be limited to, using of innovative technology for therapy, such as robotics and automation.
Your main Duties will include:
To provide high quality, timely Recreational Therapy services to clients to maximise participation in meaningful recreation and leisure pursuits
To work with clients with varying disabilities within funding schemes to enhance their quality of life, while maximizing the use of available technology
About you..
We seek a self-motivated and friendly individual with:
- Bachelor of Health Science or Applied Science in Leisure and Health/Therapeutic Recreation or Diversional Therapy.
- Experience working with people with physical, cognitive and/or developmental disabilities
- Experience working with NDIS funded clients & icare participants and/or knowledge of systems involved
